KUHN BP 8402 PRO Shredder Covers 8.4 m for High-Output Field Work

Designed for high-capacity residue management
KUHN has expanded its triple shredder range with the BP 8402 PRO, a model developed for high-output operations across crop residues, cover crops, and grassy areas. With a working width of up to 8.40 metres, the shredder targets contractors and large farms seeking productivity across varied field conditions.

The machine is engineered to balance shredding performance, operating stability, and long service intervals, making it suitable for intensive seasonal use.

Rotor design improves shredding consistency
At the core of the BP 8402 PRO is a new PRO rotor with an outer cutting diameter of 493 mm and increased rotational speed. This configuration enables the machine to handle higher volumes of biomass while maintaining consistent shredding quality.

The shredder is supplied with two counter-knives as standard—one straight and one notched—to adapt cutting behavior to different residue types. A third notched counter-knife is available as an option for operators requiring finer material breakdown.

Maintenance intervals extended to reduce downtime
To limit operating costs, KUHN has focused on simplifying maintenance tasks and extending service intervals. The transmission requires lubrication only every 250 operating hours, while new wear-resistant hammers increase component life.

Bolted counter-knives and internal sheet metal linings allow targeted replacement of wear parts, helping reduce downtime during peak working periods.

Suspension system supports terrain adaptation
The BP 8402 PRO features a new central frame with LIFT-CONTROL oleo-pneumatic suspension. This system improves ground following, reduces stress on the rear roller, and stabilizes the machine across uneven terrain.

Mechanical spring-loaded safety systems protect the shredder when encountering obstacles, limiting structural stress during demanding field operations.

Powertrain engineered for high-horsepower tractors
The shredder’s drivetrain is designed for tractors with power ratings of up to 400 hp. Each rotor is belt-driven with automatic tensioning, supported by secondary transmissions on the outer sections to prevent overload during folding.

For extended service life, the drive shafts are equipped with a centralized greasing system and Rilsan-treated surfaces, improving resistance to wear and corrosion during long operating cycles.
